Blackberry Tracking Location

Step 1
Create a free InstaMapper account. Registration should only take a minute or two. After activating your account, log in and click on "add a tracking device".

Choose a name for your phone and select preferred units. Click "Add". Write down the 13-digit device key assigned to your phone.

Step 2
Install the "GPS Tracker" application from BlackBerry App World or download it over the air:

For BlackBerry Storm, you can also try this binary with a higher resolution icon:

Start the application (look for an icon that looks like a satellite) and enter the 13-digit device key from step 1. If you have a BlackBerry Storm from Verizon, check "Disable A-GPS". Other settings may be left at default values. Press the "Menu" key to save settings.

Step 3
Log in to your account to see the location of your phone plotted on a map.

Notes

    * Press the red hangup key to run GPS Tracker in the background.
    * Press the "Escape" key to quit tracking.
    * Make sure you have an unlimited data plan. GPS tracking can be fairly data-intensive.
    * To have GPS Tracker start automatically when the phone boots, check "Auto-start on boot" in settings.
    * During the first few days of operation, the application will periodically pop into foreground. This is done to minimize the possibility that someone would use our service to track another person covertly (which is against our terms of service). Press the red hangup key to hide the application when it surfaces.

Troubleshooting

    * If GPS Tracker is unable to determine your location, make sure that 1) your phone has built-in GPS or is connected to an external receiver, 2) your OS version is 4.2.1 or higher, and 3) you have a clear view of the sky. Additionally, note that some carriers disable GPS functionality in their phones. Many Verizon phones will NOT work for this reason. BlackBerry Storm from Verizon requires that you check "Disable A-GPS".
    * If you are getting network or service errors, try changing the connection type to Direct or BIS in settings.
